Breakdown of Top Premier League clubs winter Transfers

As the January winter transfer window finally closes on the 31st, We saw lots of transfer this winter, with some clubs breaking their transfer record and rumours that were spreading of some already signed deal (that wasn’t done), and Players leaking the transfer of possible deals.


The Gunners, should be nicknamed “Winter transfer” as they mainly the subject in the January winter transfer window, with the first rumour (which turned out to be true) being the speculation of Arsenal bids rejected for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners first sign Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina then made a swap deal with Manchester United, which brought Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Emirates and Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford, not stopping there signs Aubameyang from Dortmund in a fee believed to be around €64 million.


The Blues brought in three signings to Stamford Bridge. Not much is to be said about the Blues as they have shown lack of signing talented players to improve their squad.

Firstly, Ross Barkley was signed earlier in the winter transfer window for a fee of €17 million and went on to sign their long-term target Emerson Palmieri from Roma for €20 million going on to make a shocking sign of Arsenal’s striker Olivier Giroud for €17 million.

The Blues also agreed a loan for youngster Charly Musonda to join Scottish champions Celtic on an 18-month deal. Whether there would be an option to renew the deal still remains to be seen.

Manchester United:

The Red Devils have been known to be the biggest spenders in the Premier League, and to everyone’s surprise, Manchester United brought only one player – Being Alexis Sanchez in a Swap deal that happened between the Reds and Arsenal.

Manchester City:

The Premier League leaders are quite doing what was expected of them, as the citizens only brought in one signing. Pep Guardiola keen on streghten his team defence after their first defeat to Liverpool. The Citizens brought in Aymeric Laporte from La Liga club Athletic Bilbao for €65 million.


The Merseysiders have been great this season, having recently moved to the third position in the Premier League. Liverpool only signed Virgil Van Dijk fro Southampton in a club-record fee of €78 million.

Tottenham Hotspur:

Tottenham the pressure club, has been pulling the form they have always been used to. Tottenham brought in one player midefielder Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain to reunite with former teammate Serge Aurier.

In other clubs:

Everton signed three players, Theo Walcott for €22m, Cenk Tosun for also €22m and Eliaquim Mangala on loan from Manchester City.

Southampton signs centre forward Guido Carrillo from Monaco for €22m

West Ham bringing in Jordan Hugill from Preston for a fee believed to be €10million and Joao Mario on loan from Inter.

Stoke City signing Badou Ndiaye from Galatasaray for €16 million and Moritz Bauer from Rubin Kazan from €6million.

Celtic confirmed the signings of Dundee duo Scott Bain and Jack Hendry, who both join the club with a view to improving our defence in the long and short term.
