With Danny Rose’s future at Tottenham looking bleak, Spurs signing a new left-back is one of Mauricio Pochettino’s top priorities next season.
According to The Times, the tabloid reported earlier this month that the North London club as well as Everton are one of the clubs interested in signing out-of-favour Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw who is looking to face the exit door at Old Trafford in the summer having been down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
The England international, who’s reportedly on £70k per week payroll at United, has previously played and performed superbly under Pochettino at Southampton and there he could be keen on reuniting with his former boss.
There’s no denying Shaw is a brilliant star, but his recent injury woes doesn’t give a good impression, therefore, Spurs signing him doesn’t really look highly possible.
That being said, it would be better for Spurs shifting attention to another in form of Celtic’s and Scotland international top class left-back Kieren Tierney instead.
The Scot is just 20-years-old but he has shown maturity beyond years while playing for Celtic and country. Tierney’s smart and seems Pochettino’s type as he’s agile, loves tackling, and is superb with his delivery. One of his best quality is his fitness, and his boundless energy that would suit a Premier League team. These attributes are what the Argentinian loves to see in his full-backs as in the case of Danny Walker, before swapping Spurs of Man City.
Tierney is one of those players who has come with distinction in an other-side miserable European campaign for Celtic that shows that he has the required quality and mentality to handle pressure.
Pochettino loves to work with young players and he could make Tierney an even better player. The best quality about Tierney is his fitness, and his boundless energy.
Pochettino has been re-known for his interest in working with young players and he could even turn the Scott an even better option. This campaign, he has registered 53 appearances so far that any other professional in world football that reveals his physical fitness along with his maturity to handle pressure.
Kieran Tierney would be superb one for Tottenham and one that Spurs boss must not miss out on in the summer.
