£100,000-a-week England midfielder close to penning fresh three-year deal with Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is reportedly close to committing his long-term future to the Emirates on a fresh three-year contract. The England international’s current deal which is due to expire at the end of June appears to have found a breakthrough in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain target.

According to Evening Standard, Wilshere, who missed out in Gareth Southgate’s England World Cup squad could be prepared to end his long-standing contract saga as he’s closing on a three-year extension worth a whooping £100,000-a-week with the north London giants.

Earlier last season, the 26-year-old was urged to accept a £30,000 pay-cut on his £120,000-a-week wages and this was something which he was not in favour of Wilshere’s proposal being highly incentivised.

However, the club’s chief appear to have since raised their contract offer and the midfielder is now seemingly keen on putting pen on a new three-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, should Arsenal be interested to approve this.

Wilshere, who was bookies favourite odds-on joining Paris Saint-Germain two months ago managed to have a decent 2017/18 season where he registered 38 appearances across all competition and one of the main positives were that the Englishman was not hit with any injuries.

Despite this, the midfielder missed out in the England national team for the summer World Cup and much of this resulted from the fact that Wilshere’s form was pretty average towards the end of the campaign.

Nevertheless, the player is reported to have rejected several offers from high-profile clubs including Serie A champions Juventus and he now appears set to extend his stay with the Gunners where he began playing from the age of nine.

Apart from him, another player whose future at the club remains unsettled with the club is Aaron Ramsey with his contract expiring in 12 months’ time. Ramsey was recently named as the North London club’s Player of the Year for the 2017/18 season but talks over extending his contract has stalled.

It all remains to be seen how the season unfolds in the coming month and what the future holds for the two Arsenal players. Whereas, the club official site via Arsenal blogs have announced new kit number for the likes of Petr Cech, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, and Nacho Monreal.
