11 goals in 25 games: Celtic plot summer move for ex-Man United star

Celtic according to reports, are planning a summer move for Wigan Atletic star Nick Powell.

The report is according to The Sun newspaper (4/2 page 60) that claimed the Scottish champions are big admirers of the former Crewe trainee and want to sign the player this summer.

The report went further that the Glasgow giants were prepared to make a late move for him in January if they were forced into selling striker Moussa Dembele.

Powell was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for Manchester United in 2012 and was tipped as a future England international.

Despite finding scoring on his debut for Manchester United, he struggled to find a way into the Old Trafford first-team fold and was affected by Ferguson’s retirement the following summer.

Powell is in good form for Wigan this season and has netted 11 goals in 25 games.

Still only 23-years-old, there is likely to be big interest in Powell this summer and Celtic could have a real edge on their competitors, by being able to offer Champions League football.
