According to the Mirror, Lucas Torreira will undergo his medical with Arsenal this week and complete a £26m move from Serie A club after agreeing a five-year contract with the Gunners.
Arsenal new boss Unai Emery is working very active in the market for recruitment’s to strengthen his midfield options this summer and he’s looking to add a defensive midfielder to the squad as club have struggled to protect the back four in recent years. Granit Xhaka who plays in this role is more of a deep lying midfield and has been severally been criticised for his lack of defensive awareness in most appearances.
With Santi Cazorla gone and Jack Wilshere’s future yet uncertain, Arsenal need to sign at least one central midfielder and Torreira has emerged as a prime target for the Gunners. Wilshere’s contract will expires this month and he’s likely to leave the club on a free transfer.

Torreira is in the Uruguayan squad for the World Cup finals and there have been reports that Arsenal have sent a medical team out to Russia to oversee his medical before we complete our second signing of the summer.
