According to Daily Mail, Celtic have slapped a £30 million asking price to fend-off interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Arsenal who are reported to be keen on securing move for the club’s fan-favourite Kieran Tierney.
There were also reports earlier in the month saying Atletico Madrid as also considering a move for the left-back with the club’s scout reportedly present in Celtic 2-0 against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final on 19th May.
Despite the mouth-watering fee, Spurs should not back off making an approach for the rising star. The move for the Scotland international as a long-term option to departing Danny Rose this summer would be an ideal one.
Tottenham along with other Premier League teams have reportedly been watching Tierney throughout the season, with his superb performances for Celtic.
Tierney’s brilliant performances for the recently crowned Scottish champions in the Champions League, despite his side crashing out so early in the tournament, including facing tough opposition in the likes Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, will have impressed Mauricio Pochettino and such level of talent is what could see Tottenham move for the left-back.
The departure of Rose this summer appears imminent, with the England international likely to leave after spending 11 years with Tottenham and his exit will leave the North London club to ensure they sign a top quality replacement and Tierney appears to the right man.
At just 20, Tierney is already making rounds in his home country, winning title after title with Celtic, and already looks set for a big money move to fulfil his outstandin potential. Plying his trade in England with Tottenham that relies on the attacking quality of its full-backs, Tierney would fit right in.
However, the player is under contract until 2023 after signing a new six-year deal last season, meaning the Scottish champions are in no rush to sell.
