The London Evening Standard is reporting that Premier League Chelsea have “submitted a £35m bid” to sign Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani this summer.
The 2016/17 Premier League champions are hoping to make Rugani their first signing of the current summer whilst also being incoming new boss Maurizio Sarri first signing for the club.
The 23-year-old is a well-known to Sarri having both worked together at Empoli for two season before both part ways to Juventus and Napoli respectively.
Rugani, recently dubbed one of the best Italian football’s highest-rated, has struggled for regular playing time with the Serie A champions. The centre-back, who has been touted to join Chelsea as replacement to David Luiz – was restricted to just 22 league appearances last season.
Rugani is now set to move on for regular playing time elsewhere. According to reports, should Rugani finally joins Chelsea this summer, the Blues are prepared to “double his current £30,000-a-week wages” and agreed to offer him a five-year contract running until June 2023.
However, he still have three years left to run on his current contract with the Bianconeri and Chelsea will have to sanction an hefty amount to convince Juventus into selling their prized asset this summer.
Daniele Rugani is also an Italy national and has seven caps for his nation.
