According to reports from Italian publication Calcio Mercato via TalkSport, Chelsea are said to be lining up a bid to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano this month.
The signing of Lozano will reportedly cost the Blues a whooping £36m who shone for Mexico at this summer’s World Cup, most notably his match-winning goal over Germany in the opening round of the matches.
The South-American ace has already netted 11 goals to his name so far this season and the Blues have made it no secret the need to strengthen their frontline, but Everton are said to be in need of greater attacking forward.
Marco Silva’s side have faltered in recent weeks and there is an over reliance on Richarlison, which needs rectifying as soon as possible – otherwise their reason will fizzle out.
That means that Everton should hijack Chelsea’s bid for the Mexican speedster. They need an upgrade on Theo Walcott down the right and Silva still does not completely trust the next realistic alternative, Ademola Lookman.
£36m is a lot of money – and Marcel Brands has previously directly referenced his reluctance to go above £20m for Lozano, because he is not proven in the Premier League.
Signing players from Holland can be hit and miss, but Lozano proved on the world stage during the summer and during the Champions League this season that he has the quality to cut it in the more refined company of the Premier League.
