Arsenal are keen on signing Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur this summer, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, via the Daily Star Sunday.
The midfielder, who was part of Uruguay’s squad at the World Cup in Russia, is said to be on Barcelona’s radar, which Arsenal, if truly interested in signing the midfielder, might need to act quickly.
Bentacur is also said to be a very good friend with the Gunners new signing Lucas Torreirra, so they’ll be hoping that the 21-year-old would prefer moving to London so he cam play alongside his compatriot.
Bentacur, who is a versatile midfielder, is very hard-working but due to the large options available at Juventus, registering a regular playing time has been hard to come by. Although, the Turin-based club are not going to stand in his way if he’s to pursue a move away from the club and he’s currently valued at 35 million pounds.
Arsenal have already completed five transfer this summer in Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi and Torreira, and Bentacur joining the club would signalled the end of their transfer activity in the window this summer.
