He also questioned why would any playing for the reigning Scottish champions would want to leave the club.
Griffiths, 27, revealed that talks are on-going with his agents over a new contract extension with the club, but admitted that the discussions were still in the early stages.
He said via the Daily Record:
“My representatives are working behind the scenes to try and give me a new deal, I have another two and a half years here, but why would you want to go anywhere else?”
“You are playing at a top club with a top manager in front of 50,000 or 60,000 every week, there’s no reason to go anywhere. You have Champions League football every season.
“It [talks] is early stages just now, but, hopefully, we can get it done sooner rather than later.”
The 27-year-old continues to share further his love for the club, as he revealed that once the club came calling for his services in 2014, he couldn’t turned down the chance.
“Fair enough, we were in the Premier League and I got put on loan, but that stood me in good stead for going back down,” stated the centre-forward.
“I had a good crack at it when I went back down, but when Celtic come calling, you do not reject it.”
Since the striker joined Celtic, he has so far registered 178 appearances, netting 97 goals, while nothing 43 appearances.
Griffiths’ latest comments are sure to make him even more a favourite among Celtic faithfuls. Even though talks about his contract extension may only be in the early stages, it’s hard to see Celtic having issues about tying down to a new deal as his comments’ shown he’s clearly keen to stay.
Bhoys manager Brendan Rodgers has no doubt urge the club to secure his future as the striker can always deliver at when needed.
