Arsenal will kick-start their new Premier League season in two weeks from now under new head-coach Unai Emery who joined the club earlier this summer to replace long-standing manager Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners went through a torrid season last campaign under Wenger that saw them end the campaign 6th on the Premier League table.
According to report reaching us, the Gunners are believe to be in talks with La Liga giants Sevilla over the signing of Steven N’Zonzi are ready to do business. It’s claimed the midfielder has a £35.5m release clause that has to be paid in full.
The North London club move for N’Zonzi would see him as their sixth signing of the summer having already signed two midfielders in Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi as well as defensive options in goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis and right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Emery is well familiar with N’Zonzi having both worked together at Sevilla where they won two Europa League and it looks like the Spanish boss is hoping for a reunion with the 6ft 6in midfielder in north London.
As claimed by TeamTalk, who cite reports coming from France claimed the Gunners have been locked in negotiations with Sevilla over bringing down their £35.5m [€40m] release clause for the midfielder.
Arsenal have spent almost their original £70m budget for the summer and the need for additional more signing would see some fringe players facing the exit door this summer.
Whatever has to be done needs to be done on time as it’s claimed AS Roma are also interested in the midfielder and could hijack the Gunners move for him if Arsenal keep negotiating with no action.
We’ll have to wait and see how the negotiations progress over the coming days but N’Zonzi would be an excellent signing for Arsenal if we could get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.
