Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set for lock horns with Chelsea in a bid to sign Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to the London Evening Standard.
Spurs, who finished the season third in the Premier League table this past season, having been linked with a summer swoop for the Magpies powerhouse.
The 24-year-old was a former England under-21 international, who has scored three goals for Newcastle in 35 appearances across all competition last season.
He joined Newcastle back in the summer of 2014 from Championship side Nottingham Forrest, where he scored eight goals in 103 appearances for the club before getting shipped out.
The report from the British outlet claims Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now ready to rival Chelsea for the signing of the centre-back signature, although Everton are believed to be interested in his services, with the player who’s said to be valued at £45 million.
Spurs, however, are expected to sell defender Toby Alderweireld this summer, with Manchester United said to be very keen on signing the Belgium international.
