Almost Done: Courtois in Madrid to complete Chelsea transfer, Sarri eyes €60m-rated as replacement

According to reports, it’s believed Real Madrid are “very close” to completing the transfer of Chelsea and Belgium’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer. Courtois is said to have jet into Spain after helping his country to a third place finish at the World Cup that earned him the FIFA golden glove, with 27 saves.

The goalkeeper will be out of contract with Chelsea next summer and talks about offering him a new deal to remain at Stamford Bridge has stalled, meaning he could walk out of Stamford Bridge for nothing.

Real Madrid are in the market for a world-class goalkeeper to serve either as a competition for Keylor Navas or as the Costa Rican replacement and despite their strong pursuit in signing Manchester United’s David De Gea in recent years, his performances doesn’t deem him fit enough to be a Madridistas and have long sought Courtois as such. If talks and processes goes as planned for the two sides, the Champions League winners would be able to sign the Chelsea goalkeeper on a pre-contract agreement in just six months’ time.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is keen on signing his compatriot sooner than that and it’s believed Chelsea could offload him at £31million.

Radio station Onda Cero took it from Marca by adding the goalkeeper flew into Madrid at the start of the week (on Monday) after celebration with the rest of his teammates in their country for finishing third at the World Cup.

The Golden Glove winner have his children in Spain with his former spouse and the goalkeeper has severally talked about how he misses his family and is working on a return back to Spain to reunite with them.

Speaking on Saturday, the goalkeeper said via Metro:

“I will go back and I will see what they want and how they say it. Obviously, with this World Cup, I think what was on the table is different than what I can have.

“In this World Cup, I have ignored all the speculation, all the rumours. But now, in the next few days, I will have a chat with my agent and see what Chelsea told him, and then we will talk.

“But I feel happy at Chelsea, it’s not that I necessarily want to leave.”

Should Thibaut Courtois join Real Madrid this summer, the Blues’ new head-coach Maurizio Sarri is prepared to sanction move for Liverpool target Alisson Becker who ply his trade in Serie A with AS Roma as rated at €60million by Transfermkt.
