Manchester United are reportedly very close to securing a deal to bring in Swansea City winger Daniel James in a deal said to be worth £15m, according to report from Sky Sport.
The 21-year-old, who has a contract with the club set to expire in summer of 2020, back in March revealed that a new deal is being negotiated as the Championship club wants a release clause placed.
In January winter transfer window, the Welsh winger was reported to have almost joined Leeds United on the deadline day have passed their medicals, but Welsh club rejected the transfer move after not being pleased with the offer tabled down by Leeds causing the deal to fall through.
The Wales international received his first call-up to the Wales national team under former United player Ryan Giggs due to his impressive performance this season. On his debut with the Wales’ team, James put up an impressive performance scoring the lone goal in their 1-0 victory against Slovakia back in March which got him the man of the match award.
The report from Sky Sports further claims that Manchester United is not the only club in the Premier League interested in the Welsh winger, but the Reds leads the race to sign him.
The Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made no direct comment on the deal with James but claims that he wants the club to bring in bright youngsters who will stay at Old Trafford like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney did.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Solskjaer said: “Ronaldo was never ready-made, Wayne Rooney was never ready-made. Loads of the players that come here and really developed into the top superstars that they have become.
“That’s always going to be the model – that we will develop players because I’ve got the best staff, the best environment.
“And the best supporters because they love players that excite them, that get them off their seats and we hope to get some of them in.”
Remember when Dan James absolutely blitzed his way from one end of the Liberty Stadium to the other in about 7️⃣ seconds? 😳
