Arsenal confirm Henrikh Mkhitaryan shirt number

Arsenal have confirmed that the club new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan will wear the No. 7 shirt at the Emirates following his move from Manchester United.

The 29-year-old was officially unveiled as a Gunners on Monday evening, with news from The Guardian nothing how Alexis Sanchez moved to Manchester United in a swap deal involving the duo.

While it has since been confirmed that the Sanchez will don the Jersey No. 7 at Old Trafford, Arsenal have now revealed that Mkhitaryan will take the Chile international old jersey number as he took part in his first training session with his new teammates on Tuesday.

The Armenian joins group of other players to hold the No. 7 jersey, including the likes of Liam Brady, David Rocastle, David Platt, Robert Pires and of course it’s save to still mention Sanchez.

Mkhitaryan will now hope to live up to expectations, as Arsene Wenger will undoubtedly expect the player to be a creative player in the side and to help the North London club fill the void left behind by Sanhez in the final third.

Given the former Borussia Dortmund star technicalities on the ball, it’s expected that Mkhitaryan will fit in perfectly with the style of play developed at the Emirates.

However, fans will want to see him on the pitch and judge it for themselves to determine whether or not the club have got another class act in the squad to link up with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette to make them a real attacking threat on a consistent basis.
