Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are all set to battle it out for Napoli star Jorginho this summer. The Italian player has been in superb form as Maurizio Sarri’s side battle for the Serie A title.
Jorginho still has nearly three years left on his current deal with the Italian club, which runs out in the summer of 2020.
But a host of Premier League clubs have sent scouts to watch the ex-Hellas Verona player, who would cost any interested side around £60m.
The player’s agent Joao Santos, told SunSport:
“It’s normal for top European clubs to keep players of this type on their radars.
“We’re waiting for May. We hope Napoli can win the league. Then if Napoli wants to renew the contract, we can talk about it.
“The same if they want to sell Jorginho. There are no official and concrete proposals for him from UK.
“I don’t know if De Laurentiis will call me at the end of the season to extend his contract. I suppose that [he will].
“We are available to deal with [the club]. He has become Neapolitan and is in a family. He is a top level player.”
Santos also believes Liverpool target Jorginho has the ability to become a star in the Premier League.
“I follow the Premier League. I’m sure Jorginho has the characteristics to play there.
“He runs more than 13km every game and he has a great technique. I don’t have a figure in my mind, the price is set by the president.”
Napoli’s hopes of winning their Serie A title since 1990 took another twist over the weekend as they were beaten 4-2 at home by an Edin Dzeko-inspired Roma.
And the club’s misery was further confounded as reigning champions Juventus won 1-0 at Lazio courtesy of a last-minute goals from Paulo Dybala as they leapfrogged their rivals to top spot.
