La Liga giants Barcelona have stepped up interest in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, having made an opening offer of cash plus midfielder Andre Gomes.
Earlier in the week, it was reported that the La Liga champions had joined Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the Blues’ midfielder, with Jorginho’s arrival said to possibly trigger the Frenchman’s exit.
Kante is currently with the France national team at the World Cup and has refused to be distracted with speculations surrounding his future at the club.
As per Sky Sports, Gomes has become the subject of a player-plus-cash offer from Barca, who are said to have included the Arsenal target as a makeweight in the deal that will see Kante move to Nou Camp this summer.
Gomes have already been excluded from the club’s pre-season tour team that will be held in the United States and the Portuguese is likely to face the exit door this summer.
Chelsea, who are unwilling to lose Kante at any cost, are unlikely to entertain such an offer, especially given that Gomes is involved. They are also said to be preparing to offer Kante a massive pay rise on his current £120,000-a-week deal to keep him out of the clutches of any potential suitors.
