Bad news for Celtic as target is now worth £20m

According to the Daily Telegraph, Championship giants West Bromwich Albion have slapped huge £20 million asking price on defender Craig Dawson.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be considering a move for Dawson to Celtic earlier this summer, according to the Daily Mirror, but the Northern Irishman’s move for him never materialized.

While the Hoops are believed to have huge funds to invest this summer, the reported £20 million price-tag on Dawson puts him out of their price ranger for player.

Celtic are now likely to chase after other defenders, as Rodgers looks to improve his side’s ageing defence this summer.

The Englishman could have come to Celtic and be a valuable assets for Celtic either playing at centre-back or right-back. However, the Scottish champions will surely have to find some cheaper options, as Rodgers is still looking for additions this summer.

With Premier League side West Ham United now in the race to sign Dawson this summer, Celtic could well have to consider other options in strengthening their defence this summer.
