BBC journalist David Orstein is back again as what he does best and this time it’s about Arsenal completing a deal for a defender while it’s believed the club is still working another.
Arsenal have been keen getting much of their summer transfer deals done before the World Cup begins since the prices of players could potentially get skyrocketed after the tournament in Russia.
New Gunners head-coach Unai Emery has been tipped to be very busy ahead of next season as he prepares his side for another campaign which will see them competing in the Europa League instead of the Champions League after his failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season.
Following the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner last week, there have been strong reports claiming that Sokratis is on his way to Arsenal.
According to the BBC journalist, he confirmed that the 29-year-old, who is earning £90,000-a-week [$120,465.45] with Dortmund, has indeed left the German club for Arsenal in a reported £16m deal and the deal will be announced this coming month.
Ornstein also added that Arsenal are working on signing Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira as well while it’s believed elsewhere that the midfielder could be joining the club in the coming weeks.
