Big Injury Blow – Rodgers confirm 6ft2″ Celtic Star To Miss Europa League Game

An official update has been revealed according to Brendan Rodgers revealing 6ft2″ Dedryck Boyata is set to miss the first leg of Celtic’s Europa League clash with Russian side Zenit St Petersburg with the groin injury he suffered against Kilmarnock last weekend.

However, fellow central defender Kristoffer Ajer should be back in action for Celtic after been ruled out with an Achilles injury in the William Scottish Cup on Saturday as well as Jozo Simunovic, who missed out in Celtic’s 1-0 defeat by Killie because of the artificial surface at Rugby Park.

Brendan Rodgers, asked whether Boyata would be fit for his side visit of the Russians, he said:

“I don’t think he will be, the medical team are saying it is probably going to be around a couple of weeks.”
