Ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window, Arsenal have been reported to be making moves to sign Sampdoria’s midfielder Dennis Praet.
According to reports the midfielder link ties to the North London club has been on since the reign of Arsene Wenger following his impressive performance for Anderlecht in the Champions League five years ago.
Praet is slowly making a name for himself in the Serie A with Sampdoria having formerly formed a strong partnership with Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, before his eventual signing to the club last summer right after the World Cup.
Report from Corriere dello Sport made us understand that Unai Emery’s transfer budget for the summer transfer window is solely depending on if the team could secure a spot in the Champions League as they will be hoping to beat Chelsea on May 29th to the Europa League title.
The report further claims that the Belgian midfielder will be available for €20 million in the summer. The Gunners will be looking to sign a midfielder in the summer to fill the void Aaron Ramsey will be leaving in the team, prompting Emery to identify Praet as his best replacement available for a not-too-high price.
Should they be unable to retain a Champions League spot, Emery is reported to be willing to listen to offers for under-performing players in a bid to raise funds for the transfer market.
Reports coming in claims that Arsenal have made contact with Dennis Praet and are close to agreeing to personal terms.
