Arsenal are reportedly one step closer to signing French midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to reports coming from The Daily Mail.
The Gunners, who have already completed signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus) and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund), plus goalkeeper Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen) this summer, have been linked with move for the Sevilla midfielder ahead of the upcoming 2018/19 season.
N’Zonzi has six appearances for France national team, he scored one goal and provided two assist in 44 appearances in all outings for Sevilla last season.
N’Zonzi joined the La Liga giants in June 2015 following his reported £7m move from Stoke City, and has scored eight goals in 136 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla, whilst winning the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League title.
He’s currently on duty with the rest of France team at the on-going 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, having played against Peru and Denmark, and France will be up against Uruguay in the quarter-finals on Friday.
The report claims the midfielder has now handed in a transfer request as he attempts to complete his transfer to Arsenal, and seal a reunion with his former boss Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium.
He’s contracted with Sevilla until June 2020, which includes a £35m buy out clause, though the club may accept offers of around £22m for the former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke player.
