The summer transfer window is yet to be opened but players have been linked with their potential new clubs.
Manchester United target and Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt has may have drop a hint on his next club ahead of a potential summer move.
The Red Devils have had an offer rejected by the Dutch club over the sale of their defender, but the English club is not willing to back down after one trial as they will return to prepare another improved bid.
The defender may have revealed his next club having suggested he could play alongside his teammate Frenkie de Jong in Barcelona.
The duo have been impressive for Ajax this campaign as they helped the Dutch club reach the Champions League semi-final after sending Real Madrid and Juventus back to their League in the last 16 and quarter final respectively.
The Erik ten Hag’s team, however, were unable to advance to the competition final as they were denied by English side Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking about De Jong, De Ligt said: “I think he (De Jong) had a great season. He deserves to sign for Barcelona.
“Play with him there? It would be good to play with Frenkie at a club, but in these moments I don’t know what will happen.”
The arrival of new defender Lisandro Martinez from Defensa y Justicia could pave way for a potential move for De Ligt this summer.
Lisandro Martinez penned down a four year deal with the Dutch club on Monday having been particularly liked by Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars.
“Martinez is a left-footed player who can handle multiple positions at the back. He is a defender who wants to play football,” Overmars told Ajax’s website.
“He brings a certain mentality that we can use well here, comparable to what his countryman Nico Tagliafico shows here.
“And Lisandro is still young, so we expect him to continue in the coming years to be an even better player.”
