Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira has been linked with a move to Arsenal for the past few weeks, but neither the Gunners nor his Sampdoria have confirmed whether his reported £26.4million deal has been completed.
The midfielder had himself, spoke about the north London club being one of the “biggest clubs in the world”, but refused to say anything about his leaving Sampdoria for Arsenal while his nation are still competing in the World Cup.
Torreira, when asked if he was an Arsenal player, he said:
“No, I don’t know. At the moment, the most important thing is playing for my country.
“Arsenal are a good team, one of the most important in the world, but at this moment I am focused on playing for my country.”
His club president Massimo Ferrero apparently confirmed Torreira’s deal to Arsenal was done last week by saying:
“Sampdoria do not sell unless there are excellent offers. We do not look for buyers. We have natural talents whose values increase exponentially.
“Torreira has left for €30million. I bought him from Pescara when no one believed. We bet and we won, paying just €30million. The money that comes in is used to keep the club going.”
And after the he confirmed this, another football agent has also taken to social media to confirm Torreira’s deal with Arsenal is done.
This is according to Branislav Jasurek, who is also the agent of Celtic Vigo star Stanislav Lobotka who slip the news in an interview with La Voz de Galicia.
He said as quoted by The Mirror:
“Arsenal have bought Torreira to play six, so I do not think it’s going to happen.
“We only had a few words about feelings about the club, about what we think about Stanko’s future, but nothing in particular.”
