Celtic are said to have some “strong interest” in signing Jordan Ayew from Swansea City this summer, according to new reports.
According to the Daily Record, the tabloid report that a close friend of the striker has confirmed the Glasgow giants interest from the Scottish champions.
The Ghanaian international is set to leave the relegated Premier League side following their relegation to the Championship.
Liverpool, however, are also said to be interested in the player, but it is unclear how concrete the Merseyside interest is.
The Daily Record, claimed Nana Oduro Sarfo, a close friend of the striker and director of football for Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea, claims that the Hoops are keen on a deal.
“Jordan has had offers from several clubs after Swansea City’s relegation last season. He will surely not play in the Championship with them.
“Liverpool have shown interest in him but Scottish side Celtic and their coach seem to be serious with their interest. I believe he may go to Scotland looking at how events are unfolding since they want to meet every demand.”
Celtic will be hoping they can beat Liverpool to the signing of the player on the cheap following the Premier League side’s relegation to the second tier.
With Celtic offering Champions League football, Ayew is likely to be interested in the move whilst the future of Odsonne Edouard remains unclear, Ayew could be seen as an alternative to the French striker.
