Manchester City loanee has enjoyed a successful stint at Celtic Park over the last two and a half season. Roberts has registered 78 total appearances with Celtic and have 19 goals coupled with 26 assists. However, today’s clash between Celtic and Aberdeen may well be the England under-20 international’s last appearance for Celtic.
Roberts, however, has made it known in an interview with Sky Sports that he sees his future elsewhere and not commiting whilst not commiting his future with the Glasgow giants.
“I’ve enjoyed my football [with Celtic] and everyone knows that. But you also have to look at the bigger picture and I have certain ambitions in my head and places that I want to be.
To get there I need to come out of my comfort zone and try to reach those targets, but playing for Celtic has been a dream come true and I’ve enjoyed every minute.”
The winger was added on whether he would like to ply his trade in the Premier League next season, and he admitted that playing in the England’s top flight is one of his ambitions.
“Hopefully, that’s the main aim. Being an English player and having come through the system in the Premier League [the ambition] is to play for a top club in the Premier League.”
Fans have taken to Twitter ever since Roberts’ assertions, mostly thanking him for his contribution during his stay at the club.
Roberts has had his last season at the club blighted by injury but the former Fulham youngster still played a role in Celtic’s title defence, managing four assists and one goal across 10 appearances this season.
