According to report from German news outlet Bild, Scottish giants Celtic are ready to table a bid worth in the region of £7million for Wolfsburg defender Jeffrey Bruma.
The German newspaper claims on their website that the seven-figure offer that is on cards would be irresistible to the Bundesliga club, and they would not turn the bid down.
It is believed that the Bruma is no longer needed at Wolfsburg after an injury-hit season last time out which saw him register just 13 appearances in all competitions.
The former Chelsea ace has series of injury last season which severely limited his playing time, so no wonder that Wolfsburg would not turn down an offer worth around £7million for the former Premier League man.
Even when he’s not playing, the defender helped Wolfsburg earn just two clean sheets and one win in the Bundesliga, so if the Hoops are going to splash the cash on him, they need to do this on someone who’ll worth it.
However, Rodgers does need to strengthen his defence and Bruma, should they pursue him, would probably be a better option and an upgrade on the likes of Compper, Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic.
If the Bundesliga club are willing to accept £7million, then there is no reason why Celtic should not sanction the fee for the defender.
Although, given Bruma’s injury record over the last couple of years, it may also be hard for him to pass a medical at Celtic, so at the moment it doesn’t look as though this will be happening until a bid is actually made.
