Nadir Ciftci has seen his contract terminated with Celtic after just a year it was set to expire with Brendan Rodgers deciding the forward had no future at Celtic Park but Rodgers should not stop here.
The 26-year-old spent the season on loan with two different clubs, beginning the season down with Plymouth Argyle before he returned to Celtic and joined Motherwell on loan until the end of the season.
However, the former Dundee United striker has so far failed to earn a permanent move away from Celtic with a year still set on his contract. It has seen Rodgers look to enhance his chances of winning a transfer, by making him a free agent.
But Rodgers should not stop here, and consider doing the same with Costa Rica international Cristian Gamboa, who is set to play against England on Thursday afternoon at Leeds United’s Elland Road.
Gamboa joined Celtic from West Bromwich Albion during Rodgers first transfer window as Hoops manager in the summer of 2016, but he has failed to have a strong enough impact required of him north of the border.
He managed just three senior appearances for the Hoops last season, one of which came against Bayern Munich with Mikael Lustig, James Forrest and Jack Hendry all used on the right side of defence instead of Gamboa.
Now, the right-back has a year remaining on a contract the Daily Star claim is worth £15,000 a week, and Rodgers should consider giving him the same treatment as he did with Ciftci in order to wipe his pay packet off the wage bill.
