Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda appears to be closing in on a move to Celtic. The youngster liked a social media picture, linking him with a move to Parkhead.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is interested to give him some first-team action, with the Blues no strangers to loaning out their uprising stars.
Chelsea’s Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Newcastle United was their eighth of nine fixtures in January.
And so far the Blues have won just two of those fixtures, last weekend’s Premier League victory at Brighton and Hove Albion, while they squeezed by Norwich on penalties in a third-round replay.
Elsewhere, reports are claiming Antonio Conte has been having sleepless night with the poor performance of his side, which may not be an ideal remedy if those performances are the reason he is being kept awake.
The Italian gaffer said:
“I live this job with great passion, with great love and for this reason sometimes I don’t sleep.”
“When I don’t sleep I usually continue to work with the computer also because I don’t want to create problems with my wife,” he added.
“I go to the living room and then sometimes I start to work, to watch the game or to try to find a new solution.
“To watch the game many times is important to understand positive things and negative things and to try to improve your team, especially when you lose.
“For me, it is very important to understand quickly the reason we lost.”
The former Juventus has repeatedly hinted at the tensions facing his side, largely over new signings. Ross Barkley, the Blues’ only signing so far this month, made his full debut against Newcastle.
The former Everton defender has made one substitute appearance since he joined the club on January 5, having last played for Chelsea in May following a hamstring injury.
But injury setbacks to summer signing Alvaro Morata (back) and Brazilian playmaker Willian (hamstring) paved way for the England midfielder’s inclusion.
Cesc Fabregas who got hit with hamstring injury is in line for a return, but Thibaut Courtois is still sidelined to ankle injury so Willy Caballero is expected to continue between the sticks.
