Have failed twice in to sign Napoli’s Dries Mertens, Chelsea, according to reports, are set to line up another move for the Belgium international this summer.
Antonio Conte tried luring him to Stamford Bridge in two previous transfer windows to join Chelsea, but all the Italian moves were futile.
However, it’s believed when Chelsea finalizes the appointment of Maurizio Sarri from Napoli soon, he will make a point of attempting the signing of his former player.
Mertens was Napoli’s top goal scorer last season as they challenge Juventus for the Scudetto title last season.
Sarri joining Chelsea this summer would see him make a serious assault on Napoli for the Belgium forward, who is with Belgium at the World Cup in Russia. He scored a wonder goal with a fantastic volley for the Red Devils against Panama last week.
Although, Mertens have a €28 million release clause in his Napoli contract, but report claimed his contract expired on June 15, meaning Napoli will welcome any suitors to negotiate about the striker’s future.
