Chelsea winter signing Christian Pulisic is reportedly eager to make his mark on club manager Frank Lampard after his impressive substitute display against Southampton last weekend.
The American winger was introduced to the Southampton match from the bench in the final 20 minutes of the game, which was his fourth Premier League appearance since the beginning of the season.
The 21-year-old winger joined Chelsea from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a fee reported to be £58 million during the winter transfer window. He has only been able to start three League games and he failed to make the squad for Champions League match against Lille.
A big competition for Pulisic as Frank Lampard has preferred Mason Mount, Pedro, Willian and Ross Barkley so far gone this season. It will be hard for the American to break into the first team and he is yet to find the back of the net for Chelsea.
Speaking, he said via Goal: “Obviously I haven’t been getting as many minutes as I would like.
“I am not just going to throw a [tantrum] and give up ever, so if I am on the bench it does not mean the gaffer does not think I am a part of the team.
“Of course [it was difficult to be left out at Lille]. You want to play, be on the field and be in the team as much as you can and it hurt not to be there, but I am happy I got my opportunity at Southampton.”
The 21-year-old winger was able to make an impact as he was subbed on to the Southampton delivering an assist to Michy Batshuayi to increase Chelsea’s lead to a 4-1 victory at the St Mary Stadium.
