It looks as though Chelsea have given up on signing AS Roma’s Alisson Becker this summer due to the Serie A club not willing to accept below €75m asking price for the sale of the goalkeeper. And in light of this, the Blues have been linked with a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
With Thiabut Courtois looking likely to join Real Madrid this summer, Chelsea are looking at every avenues for possible replacements and reports from Corriere dello Sport has claimed the Milan goalkeeper is on their shortlist and a move before end of the World Cup could be reached for the goalkeeper.
Milan could do with selling one of their players this summer and that could be Donnarumma as they are having to balance the books after being thrown out of European competition following their breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations.
From the report, it’s believed a fee around £45 million could be enough to secure the signing of the young goalkeeper, although the Serie A side may consider asking for more or inserting some add-on clauses fee in his transfer.
The young goalkeeper began his career with Milan in 2015, at just 16 years of age becoming the second-youngest goalkeeper to ever debut in the league. Since making his debut game for Italy in 2015, he has already amassed 125 appearances for Milan in all competitions.
The €60,000 a week star has also made his senior international debut for Italy was he was given the nod in play between the sticks in 2016 and has now registered six appearances for Italy in all outings.
Donnarumma would be better option for Chelsea considering Roma are holding out for an hefty price.
