Tiémoué Bakayoko has been subject to critics from many Chelsea fans since his signing last summer. The former AS Monaco defensive midfielder’s form has been blighted with injuries, and while back on his feet, he has failed to live up to expectations.
With rumours linking N’Golo Kante to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, it leaves one wondering why Chelsea are yet linked with signing of another midfielder while still having Bakayoko at the club.
Reports making rounds in Italy as cited by Sport Witness, is claiming the Blues are ready to sign Internazionale Matías Vecino who is rated at €25 million. Chelsea incoming boss Maurizio Sarri is a big fan of the Uruguayan midfielder while still in charge at Napoli.
Vecino, who is predominantly a defensive midfielder is also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder and this would be an added bonus for Chelsea.
According to reports, Vecino tops the transfer wish list Sarri has submitted to Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich which could well be the Italian either believing Kanté will leave this summer or that he is not a fan of Tiémoué Bakayoko, and is already planning for life without the Frenchman.
Nearly all Chelsea fans would prefer Kanté to stay and Bakayoko go but with PSG interested, it wouldn’t surprise me if N’Golo Kanté is not playing for Chelsea next season. Whether Vecino is good enough to replace the former Leicester City star remains to be seen…
