Current Premier League Champions, Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal since the beginning of last summer. The deal to bring in the Chilean International failed after both clubs failed to agree on a single table. Now the Blues manager Antonio Conte is hopeful of bringing in the midfielder to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Latest reports covered that the Chilean midfielder is close to signing a contract extension with the club despite interests from the Blues and other top clubs from all Europe.
Antonio Conte has failed to strengthen up his midfield as he brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has been the flop of the season for the blues as he failed to live up to his expectations at the Stamford Bridge and Danny Drinkwater, who also has not been quite the performer this season. After the departure of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, Conte has not been able to bring in a better replacement for the midfielder, leaving only N’Golo Kante the only outstanding player in the Chelsea midfield.
Kante has been the only performer in the midfield, while the others that should be supporting him has done quite the opposite. The Blues problems this season have all but started in the middle and major flaws and defeat has started in the midfield.
With those problems in the middle, Vidal could be just the major upgrade the Blues need to gain back the long-lost midfield they used to have control of. The former Juventus player can add to the attack or the midfield of the Chelsea team, if he should sign for the Blues in the summer. Which means the Blues will have to fight with all they have to restore their midfield and bring in Vidal.
