Manchester United’s €100m (£89.3m) rated Anthony Martial has handed Chelsea a transfer boost after telling his club that he will push for a move to a Premier League rival, according to reports.
Martial wants to leave the Old Trafford club before the end of the transfer window, while Jose Mourinho is happy for the forward to be sold.
However, the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reluctant to sell Martial and have the option to extend his contract for a further 12 months so he does not leave on a free transfer next summer.
As reported by The Sun, Martial is said ready to clash with Man United’s hierarchy as he wants to remain in England and play for another Premier League team. It was also reported last week that Chelsea are already working on a deal that will see the forward join the club as a replacement for Eden Hazard who is on the verge of joining Real Madrid.
Mourinho, speaking regarding this on Monday, after his side goalless draw against San Jose Earthquakes, said:
“You cannot do whatever you want in life.
“I would love to arrive in Los Angeles, to train in Los Angeles and play all my five matches in Los Angeles, and then don’t travel, don’t change hotel and then go back to Manchester.
“I would like to play against Leicester on Sunday but I have to play on Friday, so you don’t get always in life what you want.
