As reported by the Daily Mail, Chelsea are in talks to sign Juventus and Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain as possible replacement to Alvaro Morata who has been tipped with exit from Chelsea this summer.
The British news tabloid claimed on their website that Chelsea new boss Maurizio Sarri has marked Higuain as his preferred option upfront this summer.
Higuain, who is on £240,000-a-week payroll with Juventus, is said to be valued at £53 million by the Italian club, which could get raised if he joins Chelsea this summer.
Although, Chelsea are reportedly considering adding Morata in the deal that will see the player join them this summer, and Juve might not deem this proposal perfect enough to sell their star man as they have just splashed out £100 million on Cristiano Ronaldo.
Higuain has an impressive eye for goal after scoring 23 goals for Juve in the 2017/18 season, and he is the perfect striker Chelsea need to reclaim their position in the Premier League after the departure of Diego Costa. Higuian in his 30, can still produce the brilliant form Chelsea need to register their place at the top-level.
Their lack of firepower upfront last season caused them falling out of the top four and eventually missing out at the Champions League, so the potential signing of the Argentina striker would surely add firepower to the Blues’ attack.
Chelsea are keen to offer Morata as part of the deal in order to reduced Juve’s asking price for Higuain, but in the end, they might have to offer up the £53 million that the Serie A club have valued him at and keep Morata for the time being.
