There has been so much speculations surrounding the permanent transfer of Odsonne Edouard and it’s hard knowing which report one to follow and which not.
After conversation with Brendan Rodgers in April, the Northern Irishman scoffed when a journalist asked him if the Edouard’s buy-out clause was actually the reported £7million as claimed. Many took Rodgers’ reaction as a hint the clause for the striker was smaller, and in fact it has turned out to be the opposite.
According to Evening Times journalist Alison McConnell, it revealed Celtic have been close to the permanent signing of the striker for some time and is confident a deal could be reached come end this summer.
Today the journalist happily fielded questions about the current state of play and went as far to say Rodgers tried to break Celtic’s transfer record last season also.
If this is accurate, it displays a tremendous amount of trust in not only Odsonne but the Celtic manager.
There will be a lot of happy faces if Edouard does sign on the dotted line, which we expect him to and if he does sign for that amount of cash does he jump the line in front of both Dembele and Griffiths as first choice striker?
