It has been reported that Premier League club Chelsea FC have made an audacious enquiry to sign Real Madrid regarding the signing of Mateo Kovacic in a £49m move this summer..
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Blues are willing to make Kovacic a top midfield target this summer as they look to strengthen their options in midfield. The trio of N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas have failed to leave up to expectations at Stamford Bridge.
Despite the club’s signing of Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley from Leicester City and Everton respectively, Chelsea are still keen on getting more firepower to their central midfield this summer.
The Real Madrid’s and Croatian midfielder is one of the most talented player in this area. Kovacic, having won the Champions League title (three times), La Liga and the Spanish Cup title on different occasions, is considering leaving the Los Blancos after often being played as second fiddle to Toni Kroos and Luka Modric under Zinedine Zidane.
Although, it could be said the Croatian does not posses the great passing skill of Modric and the “dynamic and hardworking” style of play Kross has, but he will be a good option for Chelsea Chelsea’s next season if his ability to break into the final third of the opposition with slick movements and good vision are utilized well by the next manager to take over Antonio Conte.
