Confirmed: Journalist and Club president confirms Arsenal’s £43m deal – “Medicals In Russia This Week”

As reported by Football London, the duo of Lucas Torreira and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are set to undergo their medicals with Arsenal as Unai Emery looks to wrap up “£43m double deal for Arsenal.”

The former has strongly been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks after being identified as the missing cog in the Gunners midfield.

Arsenal’s lack of a defensive midfielder has showcase in the team’s performance in recent years and while they have Granit Xhaka with much attributes, the Swiss lack of defensive awareness has left the club’s woes exposed and the only option for them is to consider the acquisition of a holding player.

We’ve reportedly been in talks with Sampdoria and their president Massimo Ferrero let slip last week that a €30m [£26m] deal had been agreed for the 22-year-old to leave this summer.

In such a scenario, this has seen the club linked with Sampdoria’s and their president Massimo Ferrero said last week that a €30m [£26m] deal had been agreed for the midfielder to leave the club this summer. Although, Ferrero didn’t mentioned whether the deal was agreed with Arsenal or any other club.

He said:

“Torreira has left for €30million, I bought him from Pescara when no one believed. We bet and we won, paying just €3million.”

Now, report from Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that a deal is “complete” and the midfielder is due to undergo his medicals over the coming days ahead of his move to Arsenal.

The midfielder was in contention against Portugal for their World Cup last-16 clash on Saturday night. Uruguay victory over Portugal has seen the nation progress further in the competition which means Torreira is likely to “have his medicals in Russia this week if needed”.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ deal with Arsenal on the other hand, the journalist midfielder said the Gunners are set to wrap-up a deal to sign the Dortmund defender and this is backed-up by The Guardian who claimed that a £17.6m fee has been agreed with the Bundesliga club over his signing this summer.

The British newspaper says the centre-back is also expected to undergo his medicals at Arsenal over the coming days before being unveiled as Arsenal’s latest new recruit following the arrivals of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno.
