According to reports, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed the club is in talks with Leigh Griffiths over a new deal at the club and has said that he wants the striker a Celtic player for life.
Griffiths have earlier before this revealed that he’s in talks with the club over a new deal, despite his current contract not set to run out until 2021.
And after he has set his sights on a Celtic testimonial, Rodgers has revealed that he is as keen to keep the striker at Parkhead.
Talking in the Daily Record, Rodgers said:
“I’d love to have him here and tie him down. Talks are ongoing with his representatives and he’s a player we want to keep.”
This is high praise for Griffiths. With his current deal already keeping him at Celtic for another three years, an extension could see him finish his career at the club he loves. It would be a stunning offer for a player who has proved himself at Celtic.
Injuries have meant this season hasn’t been his best, but he’s still chipped in with nine goals in 22 appearances. 98 goals in 180 appearances for the Hoops tells the true story about the striker who’s been with Celtic for three years and wants to spend the rest of his career here.
