Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports, have tabled an offer for Adrien Rabiot. The Paris Saint-Germain is out of contract at the end of the season with the Ligue 1 champions and is free to join another club when the season ends.
It’s added in the report from Mundo Deportivo that Rabiot is eyeing a pay package similar to that which his team-mate Marco Verratti. Verratti is said to be on £133,000k per week and the report claims that Barcelona is also a possible destination for the 23-year-old.
Rabiot is an exciting talent and he would do a brilliant job for Tottenham, but it’s believed Chelsea have also lodged bid for Rabiot, as per the report.
Although the Daily Express claims there’s an interest from local rivals Arsenal with Unai Emery having worked with the midfielder during this time as the Les Parisiens manager.
However, former Arsenal striker and now ESPN pundit Paul Mariner believes the PSG midfielder would be a good fit for Spurs instead.
“Do Tottenham need him? Absolutely they need him. Should they have tried to get him earlier? Yes they should.”
Spurs have had their injury problems with midfielders this season and have just Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp fit for the packed festive period.
Tottenham didn’t make a single signing in the summer window but need to bring quality additions in the January window.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are just six points behind league leaders Liverpool, and the right signing could make the team go further in the second half of the season.
