Contact Made: Liverpool set to agree [€60m] mega deal with Barcelona

According to latest reports, Liverpool have been linked with the signing of Dutch international and Barcelona star Jasper Cillessen for quite some time and latest report making rounds appears to be interesting.

According to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, claimed the Netherlands shot stopper is considering a move away from Barcelona this summer having only been on the bench in most times.

And it has been reported that Liverpool look like an ideal destination for the goalkeeper with the Premier League club keen on finding competition for Loris Karius who according to them cost them the Champions League final to Real Madrid last month.

Although, it is now unclear who goalkeeper Liverpool are interested in as earlier report had further stated they have inquire about signing Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and AS Roma Alisson Becker who is with Brazil for the World Cup finals in Russia.

Cillessen, however, appears to be the leading candidate for the Merseyside. A regular starter for Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey, but only managed one appearance in both La Liga and the Champions League. Therefore, if Liverpool can assured him of regular first-team football with Liverpool and European competitions, he will be happy to put pen on paper.

His current deal with Barcelona will expire in 2021 and it has a release clause of €60million, according to Mundo Deportivo. As per the Spanish outlet, the Catalan champions want any of his suitors to meet the afore-mentioned release clause or they pay a fee closer to the figure for the goalkeeper.

Liverpool signing Cillessen would be a wise move and he’s definitely an upgrade to the current goalkeepers they have in their rank. The goalkeeper has already registered 40 senior international appearances so far and was part of the Netherlands team that earned third place in the 2014 World Cup. So, Liverpool should move in with a concrete offer to sign him.
