Arsenal have been linked with many central defenders this summer and now it appears the one who might be on his way to the Emirates in Chelsea star David Luiz.
An exclusive report from French news outlet Le10Sport claimed the Gunners have lodge a bid worth €20million to sign the Brazil international who the Daily Star claims he’s earning €138,000-a-week ($160,040.81) with the Blues.
Luiz, a former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back, was an integral part of the Blues’ defence and team to won the 2016/17 season Premier League title under Italian boss Antonio Conte.
However, the Brazil defender could only register 10 Premier League appearances last season and Luiz failed to command a starting place Tite’s World Cup squad. Overall the ex-PSG defender only recorded 17 games for Chelsea across all competition last season and netted two goals.
His current deal on which earns €138,000-a-week ($160,040.81), is due to expire in 2019 and Chelsea will be considering selling him this summer so he doesn’t leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer next year.
If I were to be in-charge of the managerial affairs at Arsenal, I would trade the duo of Laurent Koscielny and inconsistent Shkodran Mustafi for the signing of David Luiz this summer. The combination of Petr Cech and Luiz who both won the 2011/12 Champions League title with Chelsea would balance the Gunners defence this coming season.
