Chelsea are reportedly keen to add to their defensive ranks this summer having seen a drop of form from most of their first-team and reserved stars under Antonio Conte last season.
The former Italy national team and Juventus manager failed to get the best out of his players this past season as the Blues ended the campaign fifth in the Premier League standings and also missed out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup knockout stages.
Although, Chelsea beat Manchester United to the FA Cup title, this is not enough to guarantee Conte his future at Stamford Bridge and with several reports indicating he will leave the club this summer, the Blues are still maintaining a huge interest in bringing in more players for the next manager.
According to reports from Italian journalist Alfredo Peduilla, via the Daily Star, the West London club are preparing to offer a mouth-watering £33 million ($43,820,700.00) to AS Roma for the signing of Greece international Kostas Manolas this summer to strengthen their defence ahead of next season.
Elsewhere, there are reports that the 2016/17 Premier League champions are monitoring Kalidou Koulibaly’s situation with Serie A giants Napoli as they are looking at various avenues in replacing ageing players in their team.
It’s believed Brazilian centre-back David Luiz who ran out of favour under Conte this past season is being touted to leave the club this summer and whilst Arsenal are believed to be bookies favourite to sign him this summer, Chelsea are considering a move for replacement.
