Deal Close: Chelsea to hijack Real Madrid’s move for £70m – ace to earn £250,000-a-week

Chelsea transfer target Nabil Fekir is a reported target by Real Madrid according to reports coming from Spanish news outlet Marca.

The talented Lyon play-maker was on the brink of joining Liverpool last summer but the move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Now it appears that the Los Blancos want Fekir and are willing to offer a mouth-watering deal to try and hijack him away from Lyon when the window re-opens in January.

Fekir tied with Lyon until 2020 and the French giants are reportedly worried about losing their star player for nothing. With that in mind, they could be tempted by an offer from either Real Madrid or Chelsea.

Chelsea’s interest in the former Liverpool target is understandable as Maurizio Sarri reportedly wants him in the aftermath of Eden Hazard leaving Stamford Bridge next summer.

The former Napoli boss has built his midfield around Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic, the former he brought with him from Napoli, but with Fekir in his midfield, Chelsea will be offered a different kind of threat.

The French World Cup winner was linked with Real Madrid in the summer but the club’s transfer wasn’t fulfilled as Zinedine Zidane surprisingly resigned just days after he led them to the Champions League with a final win over Liverpool.

Their interest in Fekir however, has been reignited after his impressive performances in the Champions League for Lyon. Fekir is identified as an eventual replacement for Croatian star and Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric who many expect to join Serie A giants Inter Milan next summer.

Lyon fans would be sad to lose their favourite with the knock out stages of the Champions League on the horizon but given they run the risk of losing him for nothing at the end of his contract, a January or summer transfer window move should also be thought of.
