According to reports reaching us on Sunday morning, Barcelona head-coach Ernesto Valverde has delivered an honest admission regarding the future of Arsenal target Ousmane Dembele.
The Spanish gaffer insists the France World Cup winner is part of plans at Nou Camp, despite the club’s recent signing of Brazilian winger Malcom which many believed could spark Dembele’s exit to Arsenal this summer.
Dembele, who joined the Catalan based club last summer on a £135.5 million move, has been linked with a move away from the club just one year after he joined.
The Frenchman was signed as a direct replacement to Neymar who joined Paris Saint-Germain on a record move last summer as well but Demebele has find life difficult at Barca.
Arsenal new manager Unai Emery is reportedly in the market for a fast, direct winger and Dembele is one of the players on Arsenal’s shortlist.
Reports from Spain, however, have suggested that Dembele is open to leaving Barcelona following the club’s signing of Malcom earlier this week but Valverde is adamant the former Rennes star will get a chance to impress this season.
“Let’s hope it’s his season.
“He is an extraordinary player. The past year has been complicated because of the injuries, but even so he has brought us a lot.
“The important thing is that there is competition within the team. There are a lot of matches and we can not handle them with only eleven players.”
Dembele, who played a bit-part role in France’s success at the World Cup, was previously signed by Borussia Dortmund on the recommendation of Arsenal’s new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat and sent Gunners’ fans into a frenzy with his social media activity.
