Tottenham Hotspur are only willing to sell Belgian centre-back Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United if the Premier League club can offer £75m for their prized asset.
The Belgium international has failed to reach an agreement with the club over a new deal and will therefore face the exit door at the club before his hefty valuation decreases.
According to the Daily Mirror, the British tabloid claims that the two clubs have already opened negotiations, with the Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho keen on seeing through with this transfer earlier than expected.
Man United have been told the to pay the exact amount Liverpool paid to Southampton for the purchase of Virgil van Dijk, however, this is little more than £20m more than the Red Devils had anticipated.
Alderweireld, restricted to just six appearances last season from November onwards, will be available for a cut-price fee of £25m when his contract enters its final year in 12 months’ time.
According to the Daily Star, Alderweireld is earning £75,000-a-week at Tottenham and joining Man United could see him earning twice his current wages with Spurs.
