According to report from The Express, Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain is set to fly-in to London to complete his loan move to Chelsea with the Juve striker ready to sign a deal worth in the region of £170,000-a-week.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been looking to boost the core of his attacking options this month as Olivier Giroud has been struggling in front of goal this season having only able to found the net just once in the Premier League while Alvaro Morata is set to join Atletico Madrid after a disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge.
Higuain’s has been the Blues’ prime target in recent time with reports over the past couple weeks suggesting the west London club have been in talks with Juventus and AC Milan about signing the striker on loan.
The 30-year-old Higuain is currently on loan at Milan but his form have been poor in recent months having scored just once in his last 12 appearances leading to speculation his stint at the San Siro could be cut short this winter.
Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso confirmed Higuain is set to leave the Italian giants after being left out of their squad for today’s game at Genoa. Gattuso is quoted as saying by the Express:
“I accept his decision. Surely he could have done more and maybe we could have helped him fit in better.
“I want to be honest with you all. We had a poor training session today due to all these rumours. We spoke after the training session and I did not consider him ready for this game.”
The Express claims Higuain is now set to fly-in to London on Tuesday to complete an initial six-month loan move to Chelsea which will include the option to extend the move by a further 12 months.
