Arsenal target Ever Banega’s agent will arrive London to begin transfer talks with Arsenal over a possible move for central midfielder this summer.
Arsenal are still in the market for acquisitions to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira is reportedly on cards to join the Gunners in a £26 million deal. But with the Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere’s exit from the club, the signing of Torreira’s as their new CB would not be enough for the entire season season and this has seen Unai Emery is searching for even more cover and has reportedly turned to one of his former players.
Emery and Banega have both worked together at Valencia before then signing him for Sevilla. And the Argentina, who is still at World Cup, played a key role with the La Liga side that won the Europa League trophies back-to-back in 2015 and 2016.
He made his first World Cup appearances for Argentine as an half-time substitute in their 1-1 draw with Iceland last week.
However, Banega, will turn 30 later this month, and have two years remaining on his current deal with Sevilla and an hefty €20m (£17.5m) release clause in his contract.
With hopes of Arsenal signing Banega now gathering momentum, it is also believe the Gunners are closing in on a deal for Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira this summer.
