Premier League outfit Arsenal have been reported to be “close” to acquiring the signature of Getafe defender Dakonam Djene ahead of the summer transfer window. The Gunners defence has been massively leaky this 2018/19 campaign and Shkodran Mustafi is also being linked with a move away from the club and Laurent Koscielny’s age seem to be catching up to him.
And Togolese defender has been regarded as the best option to fix the Gunners’ backline problem due to his impressive performances displayed this season.
The Togo international, who joined the Getafe from Sint-Truidense in a reported €3m deal, has already registered 36 appearances for the Spanish club having been regarded as their solid rock at the back. His currently runs on a contract that will see him with the Spanish club till the summer of 2023 with his release clause with the club reported to be set at €20 million.
Dakonam release clause could face a huge increase this summer following his outstanding performance for the club, according to reports.
Arsenal, who are keen on signing the defender, are fighting for Champions League spot in the Premier League as they are currently sitting in the fifth position and are very close to signing the defender to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The 27-year-old has been prolific for the Spanish club this season having helped them to a fourth position in the La Liga this campaign, which is a great feet for the club and the player.
The Gunners have added seven players to the club since last summer and Dakonam is set to be their eight signing to the club.
